MissionsFall Break Service TripDuring Fall Break WesleyKU headed to Joplin, MO to help the tornado victims in the continuing cleanup efforts. From passing out new Dogwood trees and hearing stories, to digging ditches, it was amazing to see God in the midst of our work. ![]() Mission Trip 2011WesleyKU is headed to Heifer Ranch Perryville, AR during KU's Spring Break. We will be staying in a global village working for the camp as well as learning about animals and products the Heifer Ranch uses to help end poverty. Sign up by November 2nd with Kara Eidson. Stay tuned for more details as well.San Antonio Mission Trip 2010This past Spring Break we took a team of 5 to San Antonio. It was a great experience where we got to work with the Mennonite DOOR organization. We worked with the Catholic Worker, a Retirement Home, the second largest Food Bank in Texas and Habitat for Humanity. Being able to work at multiple work sites was a great experience for helping several different group of people. ![]() Change for ChangeWesleyKU is collecting change for change. Bring your loose coins to Weekly Worship. Once Thanksgiving rolls around, we'll add up the total and send the moolah to Heifer International. The Heifer project is a nonprofit organization whose goal is to help end world hunger and poverty through self-reliance and sustainability.Operation International ChildrenIn April 2010, members of WesleyKU helped put together school kits for the organization Operation International Children. OIC extends its hands to children in areas all over the world served by American troops. The main focus is to send school supplies and various other necessities to troops in Afghanistan and other nations for distribution to children in need. ![]() Denver Mission Trip 2009In March 2009, WesleyKU went to the city of Denver to learn about the overwhelming numbers of people in poverty. The Center for Student Missions (CSM) took us on an eye-opening journey around Colorado's capital, and provided us with opportunities to get involved in and aid the current homelessness problems. Places of work included the Lambuth Center, which is a place that helps homeless families get back on their feet, a men's shelter, a daycare, and an Independent Living Facility (both of which were affiliated with the Salvation Army). ![]() ![]() |
